Oxidation–reduction potential – sORP- MiOXSYS

Oxidative stress is caused by a disturbance in the balance between the production of reactive oxygen species -ROS- and antioxidant defenses that suppresses and removes them. Whilst the presence of ROS is essential for the proper functioning of sperm, their excess leads to imbalance of the system. This causes damage to the sperm (DNA, motility, apoptosis).

Several factors contribute to oxidative stress, these factors can include:

Internal factors:

  • Inflammation of the urogenital system
  • Varicocele
  • Germs
  • Diabetes etc.

External factors:

  • Lifestyle – smoking, alcohol, obesity, excessive exercise, substance use, etc.
  • Age
  • Stress

This test shows the percentage of oxidative stress in each sample.
