Antonios Makrigiannakis is Professor of Obstetrics – Gynecology at the Medical School of the University of Crete and Director of the Obstetrics – Gynecology Clinic of PAGNI. He graduated from the Medical School of the Kapodistrian University of Athens and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete. He holds a doctorate (PhD) from the Department of Pharmacology of the Medical School of the University of Crete on “Neuroendocrine factors of the endometrium and their role in implantation”. He specialized for a number of years in internationally recognized centers in Assisted Reproduction and specifically in the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN), Philadelphia, USA, (Center of Excellence in Human Reproduction) as well as in the Department of Assisted Reproduction of Imperial College, School of Medicine, Hammersmith Hospital , London, UK. He is specialized in endoscopic surgery (Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy). He was director of IVF unit at the PAGNI hospital/University hospital of Heraklion for many years, providing medical services with high success rates. He has authored over 180 publications (with 7900 citations – Scopus and H-index: 52) focusing on human reproduction (e.g. Nature Immunology, New England, Journal Medicine, etc.). Contributes as a reviewer to the most important magazines in the field of Human Reproduction (Human Reproduction update, Human reproduction, Fertility and Sterility, Reproductive biomedicine Online, JCEM, etc.). In addition, he is an invited speaker at most of the international IVF conferences e.g. fertilization.He has been awarded nationally and internationally for his work e.g. President’s Presenter Award from the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, Urkunde from the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe e.V. etc. He has helped hundreds of couples in Greece and abroad to effectively deal with infertility and make their dream of a healthy baby a reality.Prof Antonios Makrigiannakis MD, PhD
